Yes, we can make a mattress that meets federal open flame requirements without using nasty chemical fire retardants, which have known toxicity and health risks. Many naturally occurring products are flame retardants. Our Green, Latex, and Luxury Plush Mattresses use GOTS organic certified wool to meet federal standards for flammability. Our Vegan Mattress uses graphite powder and our Vegan Latex Mattress uses natural hydrated silica.

Green and Eco Mattress Use Wool

We use 100% GOTS organic certified and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® wool in our Avocado Green and Eco Mattresses. Wool’s inherent chemical structure makes it naturally flame resistant. Wool is harder to ignite than many common textile fibers. While cotton catches alight at 255°C, the temperature must reach 570-600°C before wool will ignite. We do not use flame retardant chemicals, chemical dips, or fire socks.
