You do not need to flip your mattress. (Our Avocado logo should always be right side up.) However, you should rotate your mattress once per month, head to toe, for the first six months to ensure the top wool layers compress evenly. Failure to rotate your mattress regularly will create the false impression of body impressions being formed, as the wool layer naturally compresses where you sleep, and void the terms of your mattress Sleep Trial Policy.

No Flips Required

All Avocado mattresses have one side for sleeping. The Avocado logo at the foot of your mattress should be facing up so you can read it.

In our hybrid Luxury Plush, Green, and Eco Organic mattresses, the internal coil system, with pocketed innersprings as its support layer, lives at the bottom of the mattress. So you should never flip your mattress. The zones in the innerspring unit are designed to provide ideal support for your neck, back, shoulders, and hips. Because of the way these coil zones are arranged, as shown below, the mattress can be rotated without altering the performance of the zones.

The support layers of our Latex Mattress are designed in a way that there is a bottom and top, so you'll never flip it, either. To ensure you're sleeping on the correct side, be sure the Avocado logo stitched on the mattress is upright.

Rotate Every Month For First Six Months

Avocado mattresses contain a lofty, cushioning layer of GOTS organic certified wool on top of the mattress (see image below). It's normal for this material to compress slightly when you first start sleeping on your new Avocado mattress. In order to prevent body impressions, spin your mattress (head to foot) once every month for the first six months. It will take five-plus rotations to ensure even distribution. After the first six-months, rotating every other month will ensure even wear over the lifespan over the mattress.

To make moving and rotating your mattress a snap, our mattress features four reinforced, hand-stitched handles — two on each side of the mattress.
