We believe in radical honesty and have nothing to hide. In fact, because we are so proud of what's inside our mattresses and toppers, we fully disclose — before you buy your mattress — exactly what our law labels say.

Background on Mattress Law Labels

Law labels are legally required on mattresses, upholstery, and stuffed articles (pillows, plush toys, comforters, and bedding) in 31 states and Canada. The purpose of the law label is to inform the consumer of the hidden contents, or "filling materials," inside bedding and furniture products — similar to food labeling. The law label was born in the early 1900s to prevent these articles from being made with contents such as horse hair, corn husks, and whatever else a manufacturer could find to use that the consumer would never see. There is a patchwork of laws and regulations with which we need to remain compliant for law labels. Our labels were updated in September 2019 for uniformity and compliance with the latest state regulations and laws (we did not change our product design).

Please note:

  1. Our mattresses and toppers are made in our GOTS & GOLS certified facility in Los Angeles, California.

  2. The terminology and information included on the law label is strictly regulated for uniformity. Modifying terms, such as "GOTS," "GOLS," "organic," "natural," or "100%" are not allowed in the top "filling materials" section in some states, but can be listed elsewhere on the label. Regulations are listed here.

  3. The 100% organic cotton ticking fabric is not listed in the top "filling materials" section because the cotton ticking is not inside the mattress, so it is listed in a lower section (where modifying terms, such as "100%" and "organic" are allowed).

  4. Filling materials are listed in order as a percentage of those filling materials by weight.

  5. The U.S. passed laws requiring these tags to inform consumers as to whether the stuffed article they were buying contained new or recycled materials.

  6. For mattresses, these percentages will vary based on the size of the mattress purchased. The size of the mattress is noted below. For toppers, they will vary slightly between the plush and firm options as well.

  7. Wool filled products require the statement “contents sterilized” by law in five states, so it's included for label uniformity.
